Mama Melisse (Melisse Fernando) was born in the beautiful spice island of Ceylon, which is known today as Sri Lanka. Descending from Dutch Burgher, Melisse learnt to cook with a vast, rich variety of the finest spices in the world. Mama Melisse was taught by her mother to cook delicious authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, of which the quality of cooking was so highly regarded that her brother went on to be a chef for the Saudi Royal Family.

Melisse migrated to Australia where she started her family. Melisse worked in heavy labour factories to support and raise her 2 children. It was her time with her family and friends that Mama Melisse cherishes the most.

During special family occasions, Mama Melisse would create many deliciously exotic dishes, rich with the perfect blend of aromatic spices to create an extravagant taste experience.

Unable to find a good convenient locally available hot sauce, Mama Melisse started to brew her own. With an original homemade secret recipe, handed down through generations, Mama Melisse Hot Sauce was created.

When sharing these delicious gourmet feasts with family and increasingly growing circle of friends, Mama Melisse Hot Sauce became something of legend. Mama Melisse would brew her Hot Sauce only several occasions a year, making only enough to last a few months.

As more people experienced her Hot Sauce, the more friends would request some for themselves. Mama Melisse began to brew bigger batches more frequently and pass these onto her close friends. The only thing Mama Melisse would want in return was for her family and friends to enjoy her hot sauce.

Nowadays Mama Melisse has retired and enjoys her time with friends and family, cherishing the time she spends with her grand children. As more people try her Hot Sauce, the greater requests she has for more. The demand for Mama Melisse Hot Sauce has now grown beyond just a few batches a year.
