Heat: No heat — a rich, savoury sauce built for depth, not chilli
Size: 500ml
Origin: The Feedlot (Australian BBQ sauce & rub maker)
Dietary: Gluten free, no MSG, no added preservatives (brand claims) — always check the physical label
Best on: Brisket burgers, beef ribs, steak, roast beef
Barnyard Brew is The Feedlot's answer to a simple problem: BBQ sauce built for pork gets all the attention, and beef deserves better. This one's infused with the brand's own Black Angus rub and cut with real coffee, so it reads rich and roasted rather than sweet and sticky. It's for anyone who treats a brisket burger as a serious food group.
Front is classic tomato-vinegar tang, lifted straight off the base sauce. Mid-palate brings porcini mushroom and Black Angus rub spice doing the savoury heavy lifting, with coffee stepping in behind it for a roasted, almost bitter depth rather than sweetness. The finish lingers with that espresso note and a whisper of rub spice — no chilli heat, just weight and roast.
Dark reddish-brown and glossy, with a medium-thick, pourable consistency that clings well to a brush without running straight off.
Ingredients: Tomato sauce, sugar, vinegar, salt, spices, porcini mushroom, coffee.
Dietary: Gluten free, no MSG, no added preservatives (brand claims) — always check the physical label.
Darryl Rubb here. When a sauce is built straight off the back of a proper rub, I pay attention — Barnyard Brew earns it, coffee-deep and unapologetically built for beef. Brush it over a brisket burger or glaze it into beef ribs and you'll taste exactly why it exists. Keep Meat Church Holy Cow BBQ Rub in the cupboard for the crust and let this sauce finish the job, or go full beef-week and pair it with Croix Valley Cattle Drive BBQ Dry Rub on the next brisket.
Is Barnyard Brew spicy?
No — it's a rich, savoury espresso BBQ sauce, not a hot sauce. There's no chilli heat in this one.
What's it best on?
Beef, first and foremost — brisket burgers, beef ribs, roast beef and steak sandwiches all work well.
Is it gluten free?
Yes, per the brand's claims — always check the physical label for the most current allergen information.
Does it taste like coffee?
It has a genuine roasted coffee depth rather than a sweet mocha flavour — think savoury and rounded, not dessert-like.
