Trailblazer is The Feedlot's Texas-style answer to the thick, sweet sauces that dominate the shelf. It's deliberately thinner and smokier, infused with the brand's own Heatwave rub, and made to actually do a job on the grill or in the smoker rather than just sit in a squeeze bottle. Built for people who mop, not just dip.

The flavour

Front is tangy tomato and vinegar with an immediate smoke-flavour hit. Mid-palate brings porcini mushroom savouriness and a light warmth from the Heatwave rub infusion — present, not aggressive. The finish is smoky and lightly peppery, with a gentle lingering warmth rather than a slow burn.

How to use it

• Mop it onto brisket or pork shoulder through the back half of a long smoke.
• Glaze ribs for the last 15 minutes over direct heat for a proper bark.
• Use it straight from the bottle as a table sauce for grilled chicken or snags.
• Thin slightly with a splash of apple cider vinegar for a spritz-bottle mop.
• Left-field: stir a spoonful through baked beans or a smoky coleslaw dressing.

Darryl Rubb doesn't get excited about thin sauces very often — most thin out the flavour along with the body. Trailblazer's the exception: smoky, Heatwave-laced, and built to actually mop onto a brisket without disappearing into the bark. He'd run it low and slow with Coast N Smoke The Rip Rub underneath, or keep a classic Blues Hog Original BBQ Sauce on standby for the sweeter side of the table.
