Taippan BBQ's Competition Glaze is a mild, all-natural glaze brushed onto meat to darken into a sweet, sticky, lacquered finish. Gluten free and vegan. Made in Australia.

The flavour: sweet molasses and tomato, tangy vinegar, mild jalapeño and sweet paprika. Built for that glossy competition bark.

Perfect on: ribs, pork, chicken and wings — brush on near the end of the cook on BBQ, oven or smoker.

This is how you get that glossy, competition-style shine. Molasses, tomato, tangy vinegar and a mild jalapeño lift darken into a sweet lacquer right at the end of the cook. Season chicken thighs with Meat Church Honey Hog, smoke them low, and brush this on in the final 15 minutes. A drizzle of BLEND Original Smoked Honey seals the deal. Judges not included.

🏴‍☠️ Darryl's Secret: Comp-Style Glazed Chicken Thighs

Turn-in box looks, backyard rules.

You'll need: 8 skin-on chicken thighs; 2 tbsp sweet BBQ rub; ½ cup Competition Glaze; 1 tbsp butter, melted.

Do this:

  1. Season the thighs on both sides and smoke at 135°C for about 1½ hours, until the meat reaches 70°C.
  2. Warm the glaze with the butter and brush it over each thigh.
  3. Cook another 10–15 minutes until the glaze sets glossy and the thighs hit 75°C or higher. Rest 5 minutes.

Why it works: Glazing late gives the sugars just enough time to set without burning.
