The flavour
Garlic and cracked pepper share the front seat, with a savoury, spicy undertone that seasons deep into the meat. Steakhouse character, backyard delivery.
How to cook with it
- The brand's method: oil your steak, apply a heavy even coat, rest 30 minutes at room temperature so the granules dissolve, then grill
- Scotch, porterhouse, rump — every cut qualifies
- Roast beef and tri-tip for a peppery crust
- Steal a pinch for garlic bread butter; we won't tell
In the jar
Large, coarse granules — this is a proper steakhouse grind that needs a few minutes to dissolve into the meat, then rewards you with genuine crust.

🏴☠️ Darryl's Secret: Thirty-Minute Garlic Pepper Scotch
Wait the half hour. Trust the process.
You'll need: 2 scotch fillet steaks, about 350g each; 1 tbsp oil; 2 tbsp Steak Rub.
Do this:
- Oil the steaks and press on a heavy, even coat of rub.
- Rest 30 minutes at room temperature so the granules dissolve.
- Grill over high heat for about 4 minutes a side to 54°C for medium-rare, then rest 5 minutes.
