The Rub Smuggler's Verdict

Darryl Rubb, The Rub Smuggler

The easiest win on any gift list. Hero rubs, a sauce worth guarding and a piece of Rub Hub merch, packed and ready to hand over — no subscription, no strings. Whoever opens it might find Three Little Pigs KC Championship on their first rack of wings and Blues Hog Champions' Blend on the side. You'll be their favourite person until the last jar's empty.

🏴‍☠️ Darryl's Secret: Unboxing-Day Sticky Wings

The first cook out of the gift crate — quick, loud and loved.

You'll need: 1kg chicken wings, tips off and jointed; 2 tbsp of the crate's hero rub; 1 tbsp baking powder; ⅓ cup of the crate's sauce.

Do this:

  1. Pat the wings dry, toss with baking powder and rub, and rest uncovered in the fridge for an hour.
  2. Cook indirect at 200°C for 35–45 minutes, turning once, until the skin crackles and the thickest wing hits 75°C.
  3. Toss through the sauce and give them 3–4 minutes over direct heat to set the glaze.
