Who doesn't love a good BBQ sauce? Crafted by Uncle Mungo himself, this Bhut Jolokia BBQ sauce is one of his personal favourites — an absolute must for your pantry. Try it once and you won't know how you lived without it.

The flavour & heat

Smoky, sweet and spicy with undertones of citrus, built on tomato, brown sugar, honey and natural hickory smoke. Rated 7/10 — the heat comes after the flavour, but the Bhut Jolokia is not for the chilli novice.

How to cook with it

• Smothered over steak and ribs
• Brushed on chicken low and slow
• Across just about any meat off the grill
• Stirred into a smoky marinade

A thick, smoky BBQ sauce with a sweet citrus lift and a serious ghost pepper burn that builds after the flavour lands.

Ingredients & Dietary

Ingredients: Tomato paste (34%), mustard, brown sugar, vinegar, honey, onion, garlic, molasses, lemon juice, Worcestershire, natural hickory liquid smoke, paprika, Bhut Jolokia chilli, salt, food acid (330).

Dietary: Gluten friendly — no gluten ingredients are listed, though it may contain traces if made in a facility that also handles gluten. Contains honey and mustard, and includes Worcestershire — not suitable for vegans. Always check the physical label.

The Rub Smuggler's Verdict

Mungo's own favourite, and once you taste it you'll see why I never let the crate run dry. Smother it over a rack of ribs, brush it on chicken low and slow with a base of our Hickory Smoked SPG, and crust the beef ribs with a little BBQ Mafia The Squealer for extra bark. For the milder crowd at the table, keep a jar of BLEND Blazed Smoked Chilli Honey on hand to drizzle. Three moves, one very happy grill.
