MITCH'S PRESERVES - Beetroot & Orange Chutney

Beetroot's answer to marmalade, and it's brilliant

Earthy beetroot and bright orange shouldn't work this well together, but Mitch's Preserves have spiced it hard enough to make sure it does — mustard and coriander seeds, cloves and cinnamon giving it real backbone, apple rounding the sweetness, orange keeping it fresh right through the finish.

Put it to work as a pizza topping for something different, baste a leg of lamb with it, or pile it onto a burger in place of the usual relish.

In the jar: a deep magenta chutney, chunky with beetroot and apple, well spiced rather than sweet.
