Ember Republic

Five rubs. Five animals. One fire.

Ember Republic is a Perth, WA rub brand built on the South African braai — two founders with a shared obsession for fire, craft and the old ritual of cooking over coals.

Their Big Five range is five rubs, five animals, one fire. Each one is built for a single protein and tested over open flame: Lion for beef, Elephant for lamb, Buffalo for pork, Leopard for chicken and Rhino for seafood.

Expect deep pepper and coriander on the beef, wild Karoo herbs on the lamb, sweet caramelising smoke on the pork, bright citrus on the chicken and a coastal, lemon-and-seaweed finish on the seafood. All of them are mild or no-heat, and all come in 200g resealable pouches made in Australia from imported and local ingredients.

Here's the difference: instead of one all-purpose shaker that does everything a bit, you get the right rub for whatever's going on the fire tonight.

Nou gaan ons braai.
